Welcome to the Do-Re-Mi School of Music and the Arts in Livingston! Through our partnership with the school, we are able to offer tournaments once every month in addition to chess lessons on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Each month, we alternate between a Quads format competition and a Swiss format competition.
At the Livingston Quads, the players are broken up by rating into sections of four players. At times, playes are split in sections of six (a swiss format) to either accomodate numbers or better group players based off rating. Regardless, all players are guaranteed three rated games. In addition, we offer cash prizes for winners of each section! Section winners win $60, while runners up of only swiss sections win $15.
Each player is guaranteed three games. Players rated under 1000 will play in G/30;d5 sections (30 minutes per person with a five second delay per turn), while players rated over 1000 will play in G/45;d5 sections (45 minutes per person with a five second delay).
The entry fee is $30 per tournament and registration closes when the first 40 players sign up online. If registration does not hit 40 participants, on-site registration will be allowed at the discretion of the tournament director.
The first round starts at 10:00am SHARP. Further rounds are played immediately after individual sections are finished.
Our tournaments are for people of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels! We provide sets, scoresheets, clocks, and pencils. All you need to bring is yourself (on time) and a readiness to play!
